Brr! It’s cold in here! There must be some startups in the atmosphere!

Or at least, there were at last night’s February New York Tech Meetup. If you decided to stay inside, we don’t blame you – but as always, theEvol8tion team is here with our favorites from the night.

Be sure to follow us here and on Twitter (@evol8tion) for the finest in startup news!

Ever had to deal with irritating expense reports? Abacus is your dream come true. Abacus is the simplest way to manage and pay your business expenses – making employees’ expense tracking process as simple as adding a note, snapping a photo of a receipt, and selecting the merchant. Abacus auto-categorizes their expenses based on merchant, and securely connects to their bank accounts to immediately pay out approved expenses. Perks for employers include easily reviewing/approving expenses within the app, setting up spending limit capabilities (to control cash flow), automatically syncing with accounting software, and more.

Managers, take note: this one’s a game changer.

Sure, we’re all wished we could own a personal robot. And while some companies have come close, we’re still not living in a Jetsons world. Luckily, Robotbase may be the answer!

Robotbase has developed a 4-foot tall personal robot named “Maya” – an advanced AI solution that not only recognizes facial features but moods, meanings, and complicated statements. Maya instantly connects to all connected devices, fitness trackers, locks, switches, outlets and thermostats – keeping your home extremely secured, while adapting to your habits every day. Unlike past personal robot prototypes, Maya doesn't just react to commands, but also initiates interactions and conducts behaviors automatically without direction.

We’re excited to see where Robotbase goes – though we wonder how Maya will fetch us our morning coffee without hands.

Unfortunately, we’re still stuck in flu season – but that doesn’t mean you should suffer more than you need to.
