Shazam has been around for quite some time now and we’ve always been a fan of their music recognition tech, but now there’s a rumor that they’re working on something bigger.
We’re excited to hear that Shazam may be enhancing retail! Imagine going into a grocery store and ‘Shazaming’ a brand of yogurt to find out more info on the company, whether the product is really healthy, or what recipes you can create using yogurt as an ingredient. Or, imagine ‘Shazaming’ an article of clothing to find out the closest store that stocks them, how much they are, and what body types it fits best. The capabilities are endless!
We see the future of Shazam as what I would like to call a ‘Mega app’, a one stop shop for discovering the unknown. We see them partnering with other tech startups, such as Instacart as well as partnerships with brands. What if Shazam partnered with Whole Foods to help customers discover new recipes with different Whole Foods grocery products or what ifShazam partnered with Mercedes Benz to create a discovery app compatible with the screens in Mercedes cars that could generate info for any product brought inside the car.
